Hey guys,
I’ve been dealing with some hiccups on my Android phone. The other day, just as I was about to head to work, a colleague called, and I couldn’t hear anything! I know it sounds weird, but I had my key fob for my new Nissan Leaf in my pocket. I was like, could Bluetooth be messing with me and sending sound to my car in the garage?

What do you guys think? I ended up just turning my phone off and on, and that did the trick. But seriously, I really hope it doesn’t happen again!

Bluetooth can transmit over a distance you might find surprising. Some depends on the model phone, how strong the bluetooth is.
I can be sitting in my living room talking on the phone, when my wife pulls in the driveway, the Leaf picks up the call. It will travel over 50 ft.
If you have an attached garage, or a detached that is under 75' from your location, it just may be that the car is picking up the call. Key fob has nothing to do with it.

Bluetooth can be finicky at times on some phones. If you search this forum, you will find many posts about Bluetooth issues.
Sometimes it's an issue with the phone, while other times it's an issue with the car.

I think it was a hiccup on your phone. The phone probably saw the car -- which is off in this scenario -- as a paired device and tried to unsuccessfully communicate with it by sending the call audio to it. Meanwhile, your phone shows that you're on a call, but isn't providing audio via the phone's speakers.

If your car was ON for any reason when you got the call, then it was probably a basic Bluetooth connection between phone and car. As mentioned above, the Bluetooth range can be longer than expected at times.
