I kind of hate the map in my 2015 SV and data base is way out of date. Can people educate me on these Radio, CD, Sirius, MAP, Rear View Camera and car system units.

Two issues:
1) Touch sensitive screen is not very responsive. Tips fixes?

2) The map data is way out of date. Its on a SD card. I asked Nissan many years ago and recall they wanted $160. I passed. Thought I revisit this topic. I'll buy a used Garmin with lifetime updates for half the price before buying update. But is there a cheap update option. Anyone?

Yes I can use my phone and Google Map. I just like to have it updated. Of course "WINGS" is long dead.

Can't help you with #1 (other than a good cleaning).
The last map update for Gen1 Leafs is 2018 (I have it); the price is what it is. Even though it's still "out of date" (at least in my new area/neighborhood), I like the fact that the traffic overlay (XM) still works--and most "major" roads (like highways) are older than 2018.
YMMV.

Thank you. Great info.... 2018. Not sure my update guessing 2016 or 2017. My cell and google map will do. I will try the cleaning... ha ha. may help. That helps me make my mind up. Not worth it. It goes into the bucket of other things they phased out (Nissan Connect/Wings).

I am at the boarder of two states and you have to load the other region to navigate to an address. That is annoying. I don't go into that state much but still. Other option is buy a used Garmin Navi with lifetime updates. That is what I have in my VW. It has a fancy "radio" but no map, so I have a Garmin. Works great, free updates and gets traffic thru sub carriers from FM radio stations. It is cheaper than a Nissan update and 1/4th as useful. Waze is best for traffic.

Twenty years ago when I was in graduate school I drove through South Dakota on my way to North Dakota for my summer fieldwork. As was (and is) my practice, when I enter a new state I like to get a map. Jump about three months into the future when I was headed back to my university and decided to take a different route. I checked my map, picked my route, and headed off. To my surprise after an hour or so the road got a bit rougher, then turned to gravel, then ended at a work site full of bulldozers and scrapers. One of the guys came over and after we talked for a few minutes I showed him the map which clearly indicated that the road I was on traversed the entire state. He just laughed and said "come back in a few years and try again."
