2018 Leaf SL std battery. Always charge at home on 110. Took it to the dealer for the recall. Dealer is 55 miles away. After they finished, I plugged into their ChadMo charger. Started at 20% and unplugged when it hit 90%. Drive home is up a 2800' hill 65mph. Halfway up warning light goes on and it goes into reduced power. Driving with the pedal almost floored and doing 35 max. Get to the top and it slowly spools up, but the lights stay on all the way home.
Is that a normal thing for charging at whatever amps the ChadMo was putting in (I'm guessing maybe 30-40 Amps?)
Charged it with the 110 charger and all was fine the next day/
 
No, that is not normal, but what was the battery temp gauge reading? It could be the QC and the hiway speed and hill climb push the battery temp high enough to go into low power mode.
Chademo is way more than 20-30 amps, way more.
Level 2 charging on the J1772 (same plug as your 120 volt but 240 volt) would be 27.5 amps.
 
That's not normal. It sounds like a battery overheating issue.
@cornbinder89 mentioned the combo of things that may have caused it.

Check the the battery temperature the next time you get a QC off any CHAdeMO station.

Where is your geographic area--are you at sea level or in the mountains at a high elevation?

What was the ambient temperature?

What was the Pack temperature after the Chademo charging?

Was this on an interstate highway?

What is the length of highway to get to the 2800' top?

It takes a lot of power to run at 65mph uphill, and that generates heat.

If the over-temperature limit gets reached then it is normal for the control system to reduce available power.
 
As other's have said, this could happen on hot days after three, even two consecutive quick charges (battery temperature gauge gets in the red zone). If that's your case, power limitation is a normal protection, but running the battery in the red zone should be avoided as much as possible.

halfway. Not into the red
Was this on an interstate highway?
1/2 city streets, half state highway

about 12 miles up, same coming down

yeah, but they're supposed to be able to go that fast, no?
battery is supposed to be cooled, isn't that what the radiator is for?

yeah, brilliantly designed system
. Sure am glad we live in a place where it never freezes cause I hear electric cars don't do well in the cold.
