Anyone have recommendations for an independent mechanic in the Portland OR area? Beaverton/west side preferred, but anywhere is OK.

I have a 2015 that is making a pulsating noise from the front between 50 and 60 MPH. I took it to my favorite independent ICE mechanic, who is willing to do suspension and "normal" mechanical items but not Leaf power train. They weren't sure if it was coming from wheel bearing or gearbox, so they decided to pass on attempting any repairs.

I know the Nissan dealer is there, but I try to avoid dealers and support independent mechanics whenever I can. Anyone have good experiences with older Leaf repair around here? Thanks for any tips or advice

Check with Platt Automotive in Milwaukee, near Bob's Red Mill. They have sold hundreds of EV's, Leaf's in particular and will likely know someone in your area who is competent and reliable. I found Greg Platt to be great to deal with.

I have a similar question about knowledgeable EV mechanics around Victoria, BC, as I have had a hum in my 2014 Leaf (90,000 km, had it for 7 years) at highway speeds for some time now. It's not wheel bearings and I've replaced the two front tires so don't think it's tire related either. I'm wondering if anyone has had a similar issue and what it might be. Wondering if it might be the reduction gear? But they are supposed to be sealed for life I think.

I have done a fair amount of business with Platt Auto and they certainly come well recommended. I was told by one of the fellows there that they are considering expanding to offer servicing as well as sales - but not yet. In my experience, they mostly work with Dick Hannah Nissan in Gladstone for LEAF repairs.

I found a shop that specializes in used LEAFs and their battery packs. I've just signed the papers with them on a 2013 SV with about 96k on the clock and an almost new battery installed for under $4k after the tax break. EV Rides, up on Columbia Boulevard.
