Yup, I'm gong to wait until it happens again, hopefully never :) My wi-fi module stopped working a while back, no charging history for me.
I've always had it plugged into ethernet.

I was not comfortable with the fact they could disable features remotely or shut down the whole unit, so I left it disconnected.

I have one of these blink units and it still works remarkably well (save for its size and the pilgrim-era interface and its 12W carbon footprint).

I plan to unplug the two boards to turn it into dumb mode but I'd like to know what I will lose. If it's just the charging stats etc, I can live without them.

Q1. Does the linux board run the screen interface that programs the sagemon unit inside? At least that is my guess based on all the features of the sagemon.

When I switch to dumb mode:

Q2. Will I be losing the TOU periods I have programmed?

Q3. Will the unit still honor the max Amps setting I set it to before unplugging the boards?

Q4. I've read in some posts that when you switch to dumb mode the unit works for an hour or so before stopping. Has anyone determined why that might be happening?

I am hoping that all the settings will remain in the sagemon, and I can plug those boards back in if I need to change them.

TIA for any insight.

I did the lobotomy on mine over a decade ago and never once had that issue. Worse case if it did start happening to you it's easy to reconnect the Linux processor.

Hey everybody, I'm an EV veteran who's been busy over in other forums for many years. I've never owned a Leaf but I know that MNL has been a great resource for a lot of DIY topics, since many of you were early adopters. Recently I realized that there was no public repository out there for DIY repair of EV charging hardware (aka EVSEs), and so I have started one, leveraging the wiki engine set up by the Repair Preservation Group, a right-to-repair organization.

Direct link: repair.wiki/w/EV_chargers
Easier link: www.EVSErepair.org

This really just started with me wanting to dump out of my brain / notes the stuff I knew about two EVSEs in particular, but obviously I'm structuring this to be a much larger repository.

Most significantly, I did some major work on the Ecotality charging stations covered in this thread. I specifically worked on the PE-30 model, which is the (robust) public version of the WE-30 home model that most of you all have been talking here. I have now captured everything I know about it, including the tools that you need to take it apart (the PE-30 model is tricky) and then how to lobotomize it.

I welcome your input on more information about these EVSEs -- parts specifics, other threads, other websites, whatever. If it's a modest amount of information that I can just copy-paste, you can post it here as a comment and I can edit it in over there for you, but please tag me in your reply here so I get notified. Or, if you're feeling industrious and are familiar with wiki editing, you can set up an account over there at Repair.Wiki and edit the page yourself.
