Hi All

I have just purchased a 2016 Leaf Tekna it has only done 29.000 miles and is in very good condition, I am in the UK so wondered if anyone here can help,
I am having much trouble connecting to the Nissan Connect EV services so that I can link my iphone to the car to check and control the functions.

As the car is second hand I wondered if this has anything to do with the problem. is there anything I need to reset in the car for the connection to work. I have tried to register with the Nissan connect EV app on my Iphone but there does not seem to be an initial registration page, it just asks for my user name and password. Which obviously has not been registered yet.

Or is it just a problem with the Nissan apps I was never able to succesfully connect to my previous car, a 2017 Nissan Juke.

Any assistance gratefully received.

Many Thanks.

You will need to make sure you have the correct app for your car....I had a 2018 leaf that used the "Nissan Connect EV" app.....but now have a 2020 leaf that uses a newer app called "Nissan Connect Services"

The older app (Nissan Connect EV) you need to register on the website: https://ie.nissanconnect.eu/en-ie/Account/Register
and NOT on the app.......you might have already registered previously for your Juke? So think you would just need to add your new car to your profile.

Edit: Also, if a previous owner of the leaf has registered the car on their profile and NOT removed it from their profile when they got rid of the car....I don't think it will let you add it to your profile......Nissan will need to delete previous owner first.

Many thanks for your swift response and thanks for the advice, I did wonder if the previous owner might be causing the problem.
I will go through your advice and let you know.
Best regards.

After a bit of searching I found out Nissan discontinued the Connect EV app as of 2019 because of the 2G phone signal being switched off.
A long shot I know but is there an alternative that can be used to do the same things as the Connect EV app?

There is an alternative if you're willing to do a bit of fiddling to get it installed and set up just right. It's called Open Vehicle Monitoring System.

https://www.openvehicles.com/

Admittedly, I'm pretty new to it, only having insalled mine to my 2016 Leaf SL in Canada a few months ago, but its been working great. Except for one glitch I'm working on. It's that the car's microphone doesn't work anymore.

I've never used Nisan Connect, but most people say OVMS is better. You'll need a data plan for the SIM. I'm using Hologram and it's costing me less than $2 a month.

Hello Boz50. I am also in UK and purchased my Tekna in April. It is a 2014 model and is all working fine with 11 bars and 52000 miles. As I understand it, Nissan discontinued to support our cars as from 1st April 2024 so I also cannot use the system.

Hi Jeff
Was interested in your response, I spoke to a guy at my local Nissan dealer and his reply was “ i never used connect it’s a waste of time” that’s s good recommendation from a Nissan employee, don’t you think?
Were you able to register your car with Nissan? I tried but with mine but apparently it is still registered by the previous owner (who I’m having trouble contacting) who hasn’t bothered to cancel it so I can’t do anything anyway.
Regards
