Hello all!

For context, I have a 2021 Nissan Leaf 10 with 25k miles on it. I'm posting here because I've had an issue with the cover around my rain sensor, near to the SOS call button section. The cover came loose by about an inch, as shown in one of the pictures (without the cover attached), and I took it to my local dealership to get it looked at while having the car serviced, dealing with a recall and getting an MOT.

The dealership have claimed that I need an entirely new windshield and a new rain sensor, quoting me around £700. From what I can see, the rain sensor has probably come loose from the windshield (likely due to a typically large British pothole) and caused the cover to budge away from the windshield. I'm no mechanic by any means but is there not a simpler solution? Such as applying glue/resin to the cover and reattaching the sensor without having to do such a large and expensive job as they've described.

I'm curious to know if anyone has had this issue before, dealt with it in various ways and if the dealership are just trying to make an extra buck.

Thanks! :D

It does seem like the rain sensor just got loose, so gluing or reseating it might be a simpler fix than replacing the whole windshield. You can check in with some DIY guides or see if any local mechanics can take a look before committing to that £700 bill.
