And the mate is on the big black engine room harness,

After you buy a Chademo port, it will have the E7 connector. Inspect it to find the part number and vendor marking code, then you can look up the mating connector and contacts to order those.

Is the data connector for the NC and FC the same?

No, the Normal Charging car does not have Fast Charge Chademo port, so the engine harness doesn't have the E7 Mate.

Also the Gray colored F23 connector will not have the extra wires that are used for FC Chademo.

When you get a Chademo port, then you will run wires from the E7 pigtail directly to the F23 into the PDM to get it to work, plus the VCM wires and the QC Relay and fuse.

This was discussed in post #12 also.

To further muddy the issue, the F23 connector is wired differently between the 2013 and 2018 versions after comparing the FSM wiring and connector pinouts.
