HI

Recently bought a 2020 leaf for my son it shows full bars. the battery is not working as I think it should. basically when the battery reaches around 50% going up a hill or using extra energy will cause the state of charge to change dramatically falling to under 20 percent then recovering when you lift off the gas or stop for a few seconds there are some differences between the leaf spy readout dash as well ..

1. Car has 45,000 miles
2. state of charge in leaf spy is 45% soc on dash is 18%
3. car is currently in turtle mode even though the leaf spy data looks ok

Car was placed in service on June 2020 so should still be covered by power train and battery warranty.. Can anyone give me some guidance on what is going on and what to expect when i go to the dealer?

HI

an update on this. took the car to Nissan of Temecula. The service advisor told me he had seen the problem before and they need to keep the car for a week to get a Nissan corporate rep to approve the repair. he called me back and said he had approval for a new battery pack and they would ship it to him for replacement. He estimates it will take about two weeks I will update when complete

I had a similar experience with my 2021 Leaf SV. But they have already had it for two weeks and I still do not have an estimate for battery delivery.

You did not say if you have a loaner. I'm not concerned about how long it takes because I'm driving a 2024 Leaf SV+.

Nissan really needs to get their act together with their service reps and ev mechanics. Girard Nissan in CT told me the same thing. He told me "one of five cells was bad." It would take several weeks for Nissan to custom make a replacement cell. Kept my car for 10 days and told me they were unable to duplicate the problem I was having, therefore, no new cell for me. I took it back 3 months later because the SOC problem was much worse. Again they told me that the battery "tested 100%" and therefore there was nothing they could do. I took my car to Gates Nissan in CT. They diagnosed the problem as three bad modules out of 96. (Some how we went from 5 cells to 96 modules). They have ordered the parts and are scheduled to replace them tomorrow. This is covered under the warranty. I hope it is not a prelude to constant modules failing because soon it won't be covered by the warranty.

Hi
update. Got the car back today with new battery installed so it was a little less than 3 weeks from the time i dropped the car I am really pleased withe the service at Temecula Nissan if you live in southern California Its a great place to take your car. My service rep was Mike and he is a good guy. As a side note does anyone know why the mileage shows 28K when the car dash saays 45K?
