Stronger rear hatch struts for 2020 Nissan LEAF

I put a bike rack on the hatch of my 2020 Nissan leaf. Now, the struts will not hold the hatch open because I’ve added too much weight for them. Has anyone dealt with this? I have started investigating whether I could get stronger struts, and it also appears that it is possible to pressurize the struts with more gas, but I’m nervous that I don’t want to have too much pressure, which could damage the hinges or me!

Probably too late now Dreps, did you consider a tow bar for your bike rack? Struts can be repressurised/topped up, but I've never seen it done. It used to be quite common in the 80's and 90's, but it was a bit hit and miss.
