D-a-a-m

a Tesla semi-truck fire near Emigrant Gap. It started when a big rig went off the road and crashed into the trees around 3 a.m. Monday.

That's a dangerous time to be driving--body expects to be sleeping and can just shut down the brain and go to sleep. i know 2 fellows that had this happen, one survived and the other didn't.

2nd large Li battery fire this summer in the transportation sector.
I read on this site, a link to a fire science guy who has come up with a successful way to extinguish these fires with much less water. I don't remember the thread, but it was many months ago.
Problem is: just about every fire fighter is trained in petrochemical fires, almost none on fighting Li fires. They fall back to fighting these Li fires the same way they would a conventional truck fire, and it doesn't work very well.
pouring water on lithium is not productive and takes masses amount to cool the fire and quell the reaction.
If we are to move to more large capacity batteries, a shift in fire-fighting training is also going to be required.

Three words. Lithium Iron Phosphate.
You obviously don't know Jack :ROFLMAO: -- Rickard, that is

of ev conversions and evtv.me founder. He nearly burned down his shop while charging some large prismatic Lithium Iron Phosphate cells.

This fire at Rickards was from, ironically, leaf cells

I recall over on ES that there was some talk about a LFP fire, but no links if I recall. some sort of in joke.
