Well, I contacted Nissan Consumer Affairs and with regards to my case # for a replacement battery under the Extended Warranty Nissan offered to me, they said the case notes indicate they have been informed as of 10/25/24, a battery has been shipped to the dealership. I'm in contact with the dealership parts manager verifying a battery is inbound for my vehicle. I'll keep everyone posted.
The day finally arrived yesterday, the new 24kWh battery was replaced under Nissan offered Extended Warranty. What a ride it's been, but can't say enough about Peoria Nissan and the Team there, as well as Nissan Consumer Affairs. At this time, car drives like new again. I'm comfortable with a 24kWh battery, as getting a 40kWh is quite cumbersome to find, as well as getting it to "talk" correctly with the vehicle and have all of the original features work i.e. charging lights on the dash, range meter, etc. I researched quite a few companies i.e. GreenTec, EV Powers(LEAF Repair Network-LRN) and EV Rides. GreenTec only offers remanufactured 40kWh packs and theres a host of Gen 1 CAN Bridge Side effects. EV Powers supposedly offers a New 40kWh battery but when I contacted Eric Powers, I never received any information about the battery and I don't see any customer testimonials online of anybody who had one installed. EV Rides claims to have minimal side effects, but they really want to sell you a 2013+ model LEAF with an upgraded battery already installed. I'll take a new and FREE 24kWh pack over the 40kWh pack, as it works with the Gen 1 LEAFS perfectly. Below are the before and after LeafSpy screenshots showing the difference between the old and new packs.

It all comes down to what matches your needs best. If a new 24kwh pack will fit your needs well, then that is good.
I am surprised Eric Powers didn't respond, he posts his phone number on all his posts here and seams ready to talk about what he sells.
I have 40k less miles on mine, but do expect to need a battery "someday".

For First Generation ZE0/AZE0 2011-2016 LEAFS that were manufactured with the 24kWh battery, options to upgrade to 40kWh are available, but where are you going to get a NEW battery? EV Powers supposedly offers a new 40kWh battery via the Leaf Repair Network(LRN), but I havent seen any pictures of them, nor any customer testimonials on how they perform.
I believe the best battery replacement option is to ask Nissan to offer a Warranty Extension/Customer Service Initiative Extended Warranty for the EV LI-ION BATTERY CAPACITY COVERAGE for your LEAF, as they are still manufacturing NEW 24kWh batteries. Its the least Nissan can do to support these early EV Adopters.

2017 SL. Battery replacement approved July 29th with 8 bars. Waiting in line….

Car still drives so dealership won’t give loaner and told me to just drive it until replacement battery arrives.
Finally got the text today that the battery has arrived and the dealership will finish the install this weekend. Service advisor also confirmed 40kWh pack. Maybe a coincidence but the process didn’t speed up until I harassed corporate for a loaner and gas paid for. Having corporate pay the dealership $250 a week + gas seemed to light a fire up their butts. I’m estimating that they’ve coughed up a couple thousand dollars by now.

I'm unaware of Nissan ever offering an upgrade path for US or Canadian 24 kWh Leaf drivers. It's been asked numerous times before. They're aware. Journalists have asked them. I was at an Nissan EVent in the Bay Area where a Nissan NA marketing guy flew out to the Bay Area to speak and he was asked in front of everyone. Answer is no. Of course, 3rd parties can do it.

I've posted about the EVent at https://mynissanleaf.com/threads/wa...t-increase-now-8500.25882/page-17#post-555582 before. Others who were in the room who are part of https://www.facebook.com/groups/170730229651313 can attest to that part of the Q&A. It was before gen 2 (40 kWh) Leaf existed.

Re: journalists, see https://mynissanleaf.com/threads/16...ibility-and-warranty.19890/page-8#post-440923. Since the link is dead, copy of article is at https://web.archive.org/web/2016022...-the-old-leaf-but-with-more-range-if-you-pay/. Someone did their duty: https://mynissanleaf.com/threads/hate-dead-links-do-your-duty-submit-urls-to-archive-org.9553/.

The only upgrade path officially offered by Nissan has been 30 kWh packs that need to be replaced for any reason got 40 kWh packs after the 30 kWh packs were discontinued. It's in NTB20-001 (https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2020/MC-10171230-0001.pdf).

Nissan LEAFs that had their 24 kWh batteries replaced under the Klee Capacity Warranty, we're upgraded to the new heat tolerant or "Lizard Batteries" in addition to new rear battery brackets, bolts, and new undercar plastic shields. These are the same parts used with the 30 kWh and 40 kWh batteries.
