Nio thread

Sun Aug 19, 2018 3:36 am

The company has come up a few times in MNL but they seem like a mystery to me.

Came across this earlier tonight...

Chinese Tesla rival files to raise $1.8 billion in U.S. IPO
https://www.bizjournals.com/sanjose/new ... s-ipo.html
Nio Inc., the Chinese electric car company whose U.S. unit is run by former Cisco Systems innovation chief Padmasree Warrior, has filed to raise $1.8 billion in an initial public offering that will trade on the New York Stock Exchange.
...
Nio started selling a sports utility vehicle in China in December at a price tag of about $70,000, before incentives. That is about half what Tesla charges for its Model X in China. Nio doesn't plan to sell vehicles in the U.S. until after establishing itself in its home country. Sales of electric passenger cars in China rose by 72 percent to 578,000 last year, four times the number sold in the U.S.

The electric car maker is based in Shanghai but maintains its U.S. headquarters and software development center in North San Jose,

This company is very real. I've met some of the folks who are working on the project. I've been paying attention to this since they were called nextev. They are having great success in China and it will be interesting to see how they are received in the us when they begin their expansion.

If Tesla somehow success in going private this might be a good place to move those funds. I'm certainly going to look closely at this option.

Wow. I'm not sure how this will effect the stock price for sure, but I expect that it will not do well after this loss to the company.

And with the stock up 2% in early trading, I guess the investors do not think she had much influence on the company.

The news of the unveiling of the ES6 vehicle may be what is holding up the stock today. This car is supposed to be about half the price of the ES8. I doubt it is half, but having two cars in their lineup should be good for sales.

China's 'Tesla Killer' Is Against the Ropes

NIO loses money on every car it sells and will soon need to raise more cash, but it can't lift prices.

I watched this video from CNBC.

It's crazy that they mention that the company has the valuation of Daimler while selling only a minimal number of vehicles. Another bubble like Tesla?
