"Tesla Motors, the electric car startup backed by $465 million in government loans, will help Toyota build a new electric vehicle in California, according to Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Speaking at the Google headquarters in Mountain View, Calif. on Thursday, the Governator said that Tesla and Toyota are “forming a partnership, where they take one of the Toyota cars and make them electric.”

Yes, very smart on Teslas part, read it this way:

"We are not going to be able to get any more Lotus gliders anymore for our $110K sports car, and we are over 2 years out with our own Model S chassis, so this will allow us to get an EV to market quickly"

now the only question is, is Toyota just going to sell them "gliders" (bodys without engines) for conversion (most likely), or is Toyota going to make an entire new body designed for an EV platform (unlikely)

You can read what fans think. Generally +ve.
