I'm the the middle of listening to https://www.npr.org/2020/07/02/88656152 ... rek-picard. Someone at work pointed it out to me and later a friend did, as well. I'm using the Overcast app to listen to it at higher speeds.
Patrick Stewart is back as Captain Jean-Luc Picard in the CBS All Access series 'Star Trek: Picard.' He says he's changed as an actor over the years: "I am not averse to risk-taking and I don't judge myself." Stewart spoke with 'Fresh Air' producer Sam Briger about 'Picard,' his love of Shakespeare, and his brief time as a reporter.

Thanks @cwerdna for posting the link to the Picard interview/podcast (above)!
I didn't expect to find it on MNL...but I really liked S1 (and TNG is one of my all-time favorite Sci-Fi series).

We still have to watch the finale for season one. It's an interesting series, and we like it, but unfortunately it tends to put us both to sleep, even when it's "exciting." Fortunately, in the case of the one episode we both largely slept through, we each slept through a different part, so I was able to bring her up to speed on the Admonition (to be followed by the Slap On The Wrist?) and she was able to explain to me what they were talking about in the 200 minute storytelling session on the bridge of their ship...

Patrick Stewart's interview didn't really have much in the way of Picard show spoilers so it's safe to listen to even if you haven't watched the show or finished it.

Heh about the pacing of Picard show. I think somewhere I read that someone likened it to a 10 episode pilot or a 10 episode movie.

It's weird, actually. The pacing is fine - not too slow. I've just about decided that it's the soundtrack. The show may have a score that puts old people to sleep.

BTW, today is Patrick Stewart's birthday: https://www.startrek.com/videos/happy-b ... ck-stewart. He just turned 80!

I only recently learned that https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Isa_Briones, who played Dahj, Soji and Sutra was in the play Hamilton and apparently the youngest lead to join the show: https://usa.inquirer.net/11701/fil-isa- ... -natl-tour.

So, anyone still want to talk about the series finale? Winged evil serpent machine gods, Data going to his grave, Picard going to his but doing a 180...? Actually the scenes with Data really disturbed me. Maybe that was intentional, maybe my own mortality has sensitized me to characters who look pre-embalmed while existing in a sterile environment...and then rot onscreen. And maybe most importantly, why no virtual Spot...?

Data was one of my favorite characters so any real goodbye was a nice idea but it seemed rushed. Too much cramed into the last episode.

Did they are say where they got his neuron to clone?

It was clear the last movie had set up B4 to replace data but the writers for Picard had other ideas. I know Brent felt he was getting too old to play data. But why not download data into the new body, and claim the new body ages?

Anyone remember the episode with data's mom, who turned out to be a Android? I think the writers forgot about her. Her body was programmed to age. But also it meant data was not the only android.
