So you think coal is better than fracking?

It isn't as easy a comparison as it should be. Besides the water misuse of hydraulic fracturing, the methane leakage of gas extraction and distribution can exceed the greenhouse gas impact of coal use.

"One recent study found that methane losses must be kept below 3.2 percent for natural gas power plants to have lower life cycle emissions than new coal plants over short time frames of 20 years or fewer."

"[Methane] is 34 times stronger than CO2 at trapping heat over a 100-year period and 86 times stronger over 20 years."

The methane leaking from the Permian Basin O&G fields in TX and NM may exceed the greenhouse gas impact of using coal.

"When these sort of emission rates are considered, methane makes the greenhouse gas footprint of natural gas far worse than even that of coal."

Guess it depends on what you think is worse. The invisible GHG boogy man or coal power pollution running off into rivers and killing everything.
So sure let's go back to coal....
(That's sarcasm, I don't think coal should be burned constantly to generate electricity)

On a more serious note I did find 12 more bags of coal at another tractor supply today.
I had called them last week and they seemed to not know what I was talking about, probably thought I was trolling them. Me? Ha. Never. I don't messaround when it comes to coal.
So went there in person, found the coal before I even found a parking spot, it was in the parking lot on a pallet by the front door.
That makes 2,080lb for the year, plus the 14 bags from left over from last year I have an ok stock pile.
