Board down for upgrades?

Mon Aug 30, 2010 10:04 am

A few minutes ago I received error messages that the board was down for upgrades. Can I suggest that if this is even being contemplated right now, we wait until after tomorrow. Also, we need to give advance notice. It can't just be gone like "that" [snaps fingers] for 24 hours.

There will never be a good time for it to be down. I received the same error when I tried to log in a few minutes ago. My thought was that today was a better day than tomorrow, and it might help with all the traffic that is likely to be here tomorrow. I do however agree that if the site has a planned downtime that is going to be for several hours, there should be some advance notice to the members.

24 hours would be good, I think. Especially if it's going to be a 24 hour outage.

The best downtime would after late evening / night PST. Usually there isn't much activity on the board at that time (except perhaps tomorrow).

If that is difficult - sometime after Thursday would be ok.

Model 3 : 5/10/2018 to ?

thanks for the feedback - this whole thing was sprung on me last night by the host because they are upgrading their servers this week.

Thanks to all your gracious donations I figured now would be a great time to transfer the site to a new host. I'll see if I can get them to wait a couple days before they do their transfer (forcing me to do my transfer).

I'll give you as much notice as I can via a banner at the top of the site.

FYI - I've also figured out a workaround where the downtime will be max 1-2 hours.

Great.

Can they do that at night or a saturday? Just asking because the next few days might be crazy...and then crazy again once we find out how the August orders went and start up with all the september order madness.

But thanks for all the good work.
