Re: Advertising banner?

Of course these adds really only apply to CA buyers, most of the country can't buy from "Boardwalk Nissan".

Perhaps take banner adds from dealers in different parts of the country and
target them to the users in that part of the country, this "narrowcasting" is already being done via the origination IP of the user (on other forums)

1. Yes, these banners are permanent. These companies are supporting this forum in order to keep it free for you to use.
2. In the near future there will be an option to donate to the site and have an ad-free experience once logged in.
3. DO NOT discuss how to block these supporters ads on this forum. If you have a problem with an ad etc, contact me.
Once again, I have no problems with ads. I just don't like to see misleading or false ones.

I only had problems with it for the brief amount of time that it completely replaced the mynissanleaf.com logo. Now the logo is back and the ad is over to the right....no problem. :)

Edit: Oh, I see what it is....when you screen resolution is less than 1280x1024, the banner has no place to go but over the site logo.

I'm in favor of doing whatever it takes to keep this really, really informative board operating.

I am more than willing to put up with some ads, if it keeps the information flowing.

I, and most of the other members of this forum truly are appreciative of the effort as well as the cost
to make this available to us (the 800 about to be visited by a Polar Bear).

I donated, and I have no objection to the ad. Keep the info flowing. Thanks!

Weren't we here before? I have this deja vu feeling that we tried ads once and they didn't work so well so they were taken off the next day, and then we voted to allow donations instead. Then again maybe it's just me and my memory playing tricks.

Anyway, I don't mind the ads either, I'm used to seeing ads on websites. If it keeps the lights on, I'm happy. (As long as we don't have flashing dancing types with popups) But the other dealerships who frequent the forum might not be so happy...maybe each of them will want their ad inserted on rotation

Still, although I don't mind it, the fact is we voted for donations instead. At least, those who donated should have the option of not seeing ads if they so choose.

I hardly noticed it. I guess I'm so used to advertising on web sites and I ignore almost all of it.

I donated to the site. I have no problem with the ad. And I agree that they should be static, non-dancing, no popups (PLEASE!)

Thanks for the feedback.

No, we hadn't gone to advertising for a day and then changed.... and the poll results showed 74% were in favor of some way to support the site.

The largest being 31% that were in favor of a premium membership where they wouldn't see any ads.

This is the plan we are going with - and in order to be able to hide ads, that means there needs to be ads

As for the banner overlapping the site logo, can you provide some details as to the operating system and browser? I've tested on multiple browsers on a PC and Apple iBook and the banner always wraps underneath the logo if the screen isn't wide enough.

I think it is great that "our" forum has "grown" enough to have sufficient traffic to attract paying supporters (advertisements).

I donated and have no problem with top-ads that do not "squeeze" the sides so that using the forum becomes difficult to use.

Likewise, the ads should be hosted in such a way that their "loading" does not slow down each page refresh. If they are cached locally, then the graphic is only re-loaded when it changes.

Last, the content of each ad should checked, at least a little bit, to avoid seriously misleading unsuspecting new users into financial sink-holes.

We can self-police that by having a section for ad-discussion, with a new topic for each new ad. There the experienced members can post any comments (or warnings), good or bad.

I would like to know how she can claim that when the orders aren't finished yet. I don't like it.
