The OP has raised some valid concerns, though he's done so in perhaps the most offensive manner possible. Probably best to lock this thread (since the original title is visible in all of the earlier posts), then start a new one covering each of his specific concerns.

Much ado about nothing. I don't see a problem worth spending time on.

We can definitely consider that option again.
I think this is a good idea. I delete at least a couple spam threads and ban users every day.

The kitchen-spam is getting annoying.

Would it be possible to force using captcha the first few posts? That way users can post stuff right away, wile bots should still struggle.

I certainly vote against using captcha all the time.

Problem is that it doesn't seem like some of the spammers are bots.

Right now, a spammer (Litttlejohn) at Priuschat posted pictures in 1 post and at http://priuschat.com/threads/fiat-500e- ... on.125138/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (which might be gone by the time you see this) copied and pasted text from an article I linked to in my 1st post as the body of his post.

I'm a mod at another forum. We did a few things to combat spam that turned out to be pretty effective.

New forum users were placed on a "new user" queue. I created a greasemonkey script for the mods that would display a red circle next to users in the queue who had been flagged for spamming by stopforumspam. You just ban all of those users immediately. I also included a link to quickly look up the geolocation of the user. We quickly learned that anything coming from China or Russia was a spammer, though YMMC on this site.

For any users that made it through these checks, we made it so that their posts would have to be approved by a moderator before being made publicly available. If the first post looks reasonable, then allow them to post
