Suggestion: Create user group for manufacturer reps

Fri Jun 21, 2013 9:53 pm

There's at least one person from Nissan USA posting here, possibly more. I think Blink has a rep here as well.

IF a user wishes to reveal their affiliation, it should be confirmed by an admin (via an email associated with the company). Then instead of seeing "Forum Supporter" under their username, it would say something like "Nissan USA employee".

I'd suggest having these groups for any EV-related company that requests them. Figure out how to draw the line from some company that's just going to spam the board with ads every few weeks vs. someone that is an active part of the community.

This will let people know that while they are not an official voice of the company, they have been "vetted", and so their responses can be trusted.

I agree, on every other forum I run, I create a vendor and a manufacturer group. This helps users with figuring out if someone's post might be biased or and adds some trust value to the post in case of manufacturers. It also gives the admins some other benefits, such as being able to restrict features, or change some of the limits (# of PMs, photo size etc).

Highly recommended!

We have a Vendors group, so if they are not listed as vendors, they haven't inquired about it.

They aren't really interested in participating where they can't control the dialog. The only reason we've seen the people we've seen is because we've forced their hand.

How would someone learn about this?

I can see why Nissan (at least as a member having vender/manufacturer status) wouldn't want to hold their self out as such. It couuld easily become a bitch fest ... demanding answers for the tough question that ... well ... that we already keep asking.

But that's the point. They already HAVE people here. But the post count is low. How do we know they're who they claim to be?
