Recently there has been a marked increase in obvious spam topics. Why? Doesn't the bulletin board software filter those?

Where else am I going to get updated information on all the latest male enhancement supplements?

You know it makes sense to come here first. Well, if you've been a member long enough you do. :D

I wonder if this site gives immediate access when they sign up?

I have been on some car forums, and they make you have to complete the registration sign-up from an email sent to their address. This would discourage automated sign-ups?

Yeah, from the looks of it on some posts, I think some members have been taking too much of this testosterone junk...

The site needs to either approve registrations as suggested, or they need to make the flag feature immediately take the posts offline. I've been flagging tons of them. It's much faster to just leave the default 'pirated software' reason selected, rather than try to customize each report to the actual spam content.

On the face of it, just banning any topic that starts with 'http' seems like it would block most of the spam, at least until the spammers adjusted their tactics.

The owner is attempting some strategies to block. Until that works better, I have been just deleting the messages...

Are you also blocking IP ranges that are VPNs, proxies and similar?

I've been a Moderator, Listserve Admin, etc in the past. Give me the power to delete topics and I'll use it only for Spam. I'm also up all night. I'm not looking to be a full time Mod, though - just a spam killer.
