MyNissanLeaf Moderators,

Would it be possible to start a EV Motorsports Forum? There have been quite a few posts over the past few months dealing w/ subjects related to EVs in motorsports as well as the Nissan Leaf being used in various challenges like hill climb, autocross, track days and road rallies. Also threads related to dyno runs and burn-out attempts have also be presented. A motorsports forum on MyNissanLeaf could be quite popular among the existing community and could highlight the achievements of the Leaf. Yes, the Leaf was never really intended to be a performance vehicle, but that won't stop owners who share a passion for all things mechanical that move from seeing what it's capable of.

Thanks.

+1 on that.

I can recall nader's great reports from Laguna Seca and ttweed's equally great autocross experience in SD. I don't expect that an autosports thread or section would get a lot of traffic, but it would be a great place to collect great stories like these in a single spot.

One can't change a pig into a race horse, but one can change it into a really, really fast pig! Image

Let's do it.

Edit: I think eventually we'll need the standard wheels/tires, suspension, exterior mods, interior mods, etc subforums too. The Mods category will quickly get diluted and I don't think window tint and seat cover discussions should be in the same category as wheel/tire or suspension mods. Mi dos centavos.

Yeah, but that paraphrased quote has been attributed to Bob Akin, who was referring to the Porsche 935. I don't think we are going to see a 700HP Leaf anytime soon. :D

So it's been a few days now and so far no EV motorsports forum.

I just reviewed my first post and realized that I forgot to say one important thing:

PLEEEAAASE....? :)

There is no need for a separate forum because it is so limited at this point. Just start a thread on the topic, if it grows greatly we can move it. Or use this one and I'l clean the other posts out.

I understand your decision and know that there is nothing that I can do other than accept it. I will accept it if that is the final decision. I would like to respectfully ask you to reconsider. If I may present a case for you; there topics within motosports and performance tuning are very broad and mutually exclusive of each other. Even within those two topics that there are subject maters that would not be associated to each other.

Example 1 : Discussions on the best wheel and tire combination to be used for autoX would not be associated to suspension components.
Example 2 : Discussions on the FIA's recent decision to start a global EV racing series would be something independent of Leaf owners writting about their individual autoX experiences w/ the Leaf.

An EV motorsports forum would keep the MyNissanLeaf.com better organized by having threads dealing w/ topics of motorsports, racing, performance tuning and 'going fast' in an EV. It may be an forum that would attract particular interest of people who do not have a Leaf, have no intention of getting one, but are just interested in EV motorsports. It seems that there are quite a few early adopters that have an interest in inspired driving and it would be a good forum that would be well visited.

Again, I accept your decision. My response to your last post was just to share my thoughts on the subject since I did not present it at any point earlier in this thread. Thanks.

Is this topic dead or is there still a possibility of an EV motorsports section? I'd like to see one as well.
