I've locked the Ask Nissan forum since noone from Nissan is looking at those questions, as for as we know. Pls post your questions in other forums and members will answer as best as they can ...

Hugh? I don't understand the above comment. But here's MY deal. I was posting a thought about the charger in "ask Nissan" . . . something about $2,500 charger costs versus installation costs. The VERY next thing I notice? LOCKED. What the heck? I don't get it. Can someone explain? Sheez ! I noticed I'd typed so fast, that I'd left the "H" out of "Charger" on my post . . . and I wanted to fix it (kind of like the "noone" spelling in the quote above) a little bit, plus add the follow up in the "$2,500 charger costs" post, with the following:

" . . . so ... if the installation costs are going to pretty much cost $2,200 no matter HOW ready your breakers / breaker box / heavy-existing wire runs are ... and we get 1/2 rebated from the state ... then basically that means the charger costs (with installation, minus rebates) will be ... out the door - around THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS. "

Um, so what the heck should I do . . . figure out an existing thread to stick that question into? I've posted on 3 or 4 sites over the past decades, and I have yet to stop reeling from the OCD going on here, with "POST IN THE RIGHT PLACE" ... locked threads ... etc. Sheez! It seems like I'm 3 seconds from being banned or something ... what with so much fretting over exact precision being required. Is there someone I can talk to about this? ... so I don't ruffle the wrong feathers?

Peace & love ... as ringo used to say
forgive any spelling . . . I was typing quick . . . in case I get locked here, too

I'll move your thread - I don't want to give the wrong impression that someone from nissan will actually read and answer ...

How about unlocking but also changing the name of the forum to "Ask Nissan - NOT!" ?

I was thinking about a title change to something like "Questions we'd LOVE to ask Nissan" to avoid anyone thinking it was an official Nissan Q&A forum.

Agree with Hill,
There's a lot of snottiness about posting questions previously asked, or inadvertantly posting in the wrong forum, etc. While some of that stuff is frustrating to experienced forum users, many people are NOT experienced. Sometimes it's best to just move the 'offending' posts and send a private message to the 'offender' explaining proper forum decorum.

And I agree it is much better to change the name of the "Ask Nissan" forum than to lock it...someone probably will come back someday...and you at least want to keep the option open. From experience I can tell you that there is much administrative hand wringing when employees participate in forums like this--it's easier for them to tell the employees to say nothing at all than to try to keep track of what can and can't be said.

I think it would be nice to have questions we would like Nissan to answer and maintain a thread with all the questions - if someone from Nissan would come and answer.

Otherwise it becomes a place where the same topics that already being discussed in other forums are hashed out again.

True enough - but there was a lot going on in there! Thanks for moving some threads out. Unfortunately, I think the lock will spawn more dupe until the active topics get re-established in the open areas. We can't quote or extract posts from the 'dead zone' - we have to rebuild them. :(

On posts and multiple questions without searching first... We're still a small group. I'm part of very large groups with many times more newbies than we have here and they work pretty well without superhuman mods because people do their part. evnow is working a LOT of hours just moving posts around and combining the dupes. Heaven help him if we get more people and we get lazier! There aren't enough hours in the day to keep a growing forum in shape. I hope we'll continue to encourage a 'search first then post' ethic.
