2019 vs. 2019 eplus comparison

Fri Mar 01, 2019 11:51 pm

I was at the dealer having service done, found this brochure and read it. Looks like one of the sales guys left it on the bench that I was sitting on.

Anyway, I really liked how it compared the 2018 and 2019 LEAF @ 40 kwh vs. the 2019 Eplus edition as I had lots of questions and this seems to answer most of them. Differentiation on trims and options, types of charging and other interesting things to consider.

Enjoy the doodles that the sales person drew in. I especially liked when he writes in 130,00 units to be sold of the eplus this year.

Nice find! Thanks! IF folks are interested, better read it fast...

Wouldn't be surprised if a take down request comes from NNA in the near future.

Can't you submit it to the archive whose name escapes me?

Done. https://web.archive.org/web/20190302083 ... MMdl8/edit seems to work. Having the sharing query string bit at the end causes flashing.

There's no guarantee it'll work if the content hosted by Google gets removed though. I didn't bother originally because of this.

Thanks for the reminder for folks to do their duty: http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=9553.

I tried submitting a few variants to http://archive.is/ and am having trouble. I sometimes use that archive if archive.org has trouble w/some content.

I downloaded a copy, but given that I have Windows 10 (second time around, after an "update" destroyed my first OS and all programs not originally included) that isn't so secure. Maybe I'll also upload it to the cloud.

(Smacks head about saving it... Duh... so, my reply should've said to better download a copy quick. :))

Win 10 has some built in backup capabilities but I don't use them (e.g. https://www.pcworld.com/article/2974385 ... ature.html).

I put almost nothing in places like Documents or Pictures (MSFT has moved these around depending on the OS version) and put them in other well-known locations. I have 2 external USB hard drives that I back up those directories to. I just make a new dir (e.g. 20190302_data_backup) and copy/paste those well-known locations into that drive.

I also have a batch file that copies those locations + a few others into a location I specify.

There are some other backup solutions that are more automated but I'm the wrong person to ask about them.

External USB hard drives are dirt cheap now. If you don't want to deal with one that has an external power supply, just get one that has a laptop drive inside and is powered via USB: https://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductL ... ageSize=36.

Want more security? Get drives from two different totally unaffiliated hard drive companies (e.g. WD, Seagate and Toshiba). See diagram at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_d ... ufacturers. I got a 1 TB WD and a 1 TB Seagate USB drive for my parents recently for this purpose. Cheap!

I do back up personal files to an external drive, but not often enough. Having tried a couple of auto-backup systems that failed miserably (including Dell's) I just copy to an offsite folder. It's a shame that reliability always takes a back seat to price point and profit margin.

Interesting stuff. The one thing I couldn't quite understand was the "Intelligent Forward Collision" feature it says "not" available for the 40 kWh version. What exactly is more "Intelligent" about the forward collision warning in the 62 kWh version compared to my current 2018 MY?

It apparently takes over from the low-speed-only Automatic Emergency Braking.

Ok makes sense. Curious to see why they left IFC out of the 18 MY and 19 MY non-plus versions. It seems to use very similar hardware with the AEB system. They even offered in the 18 MY Altima here:

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=F4npfQoLNls

I'm guessing the IFC has a more powerful radar to be able to "see" through 2 vehicles ahead...and more expensive...but the differential must be minor.

I've found AEB still works even up to 50 mph (is that considered low speed?).
