Congratulations on picking up your new car today! We don't have tint on any of our cars, but there are many here in the desert who do. From personal observation and reports from friends, the one thing that can be said is "You get what you pay for." Either because of poor DIY application technique or material quality, the low-cost ones seem to turn into a waffle pattern of bubbles or dull areas within a couple years. To make matters worse, the adhesive on less expensive tints can become "crispy" and be difficult to remove without damaging surface-mounted window heater elements. The professionally-applied materials survive upwards of ten years.

Thanks for posting your tip. I'll look into it for our Leaf. . . when it comes. :( We were just up your way this weekend (actually, Santa Rosa), snooping around and hoping to someday relocate back north where window film would be less of a necessity. :)

I think the warranty they give is a good sign of how much faith they have in the tint. Lifetime warranties are nice. Be sure to check the warranty and that it covers bubbling at least and rips too ideally.

$140 for the 9 windows. I chose 20% back and 50% front.

They use 1.5 mil tint with a lot of attention to detail.

Look is awesome

Pick a good installer and someone who understands the films. I went with 3M Crystalline 70 all around including the windshield. I didn't want any dark tint since night vision was important to me. The 3M is amazing with heat and IR rejection and the A/C cools down the car within a short time.

I am planning to use 3M Crystalline 40 on my wife's car and also do the windshield in the 70.

The Suntek CXP (Carbon XP) was my 2nd choice. You can do research on tint installer website:
