I can't even fathom having "Geek Squad" install a 240V anything... Seems like insanity!

True. I think they will get an actual electrician to do that part of the job.

Ofcourse this aspect of Ford Focus EV has been discussed a lot. The expectation is that the actual competitor to Focus EV - the MY2012 Leaf will have the upgraded charger.
1st Leaf : 2/28/2011 to 5/6/2013
2nd Leaf : 5/4/2013 to 3/21/2017
Volt : 3/25/2017 to 5/25/2018
Model 3 : 5/10/2018 to ?

I'll get excited with they come out with an actual range, delivery estimate and price. Being heavier than the LEAF with the same size pack, I have my doubts about the mileage.

Since Leaf got 73 miles rating, Focus EV will probably get less than 70 miles. Since they haven't announced any other range - that 68 miles (or whatever) will stick in everyone's mind. Not good for Ford.

A "Geek Squad" install consists of taking something out of a box and plugging it in. That's it...

Are they really qualified to do that?

Since I doubt Geek Squad has any licensed professional electricians on staff, they will undoubtedly subcontract the work.

Which means you're probably better off declining their install service and getting your own electrician. Cut out the middleman.

"The 6.6 charger is a really new technology."
How is the 6.6 charger really new technology? The EV1 came with a 6.6 kW charger even though it was external.
