Can nissan leaf 7.5 volt cells be used to add a extender pack to a 2012 Leaf?

Is it safe to assume a extender pack in the back needs to be the same voltage as the main pack?
The 48 cells in the main pack are all in series . 48 cells x 7.5v = 360 pack nominal voltage. And I dont want to take up that much space or add that much weight.

What batteries are commonly being used to build extender packs?

Thanks...

Such a pack has been offered, although I don't think it used Leaf cells. You really would be better off looking into having a used 30 or 40 kwh pack from a newer Leaf installed. Where (city or region) do you live?

If you live anywhere near the Netherlands, then MUXSAN would be the clear choice:

In North America though, I don't think anyone is building and selling extender packs. The founder of MUXSAN has stated before that offering that kind of service in the US is a non-starter, for legal liability reasons.
