I was teased relentlessly all fall with the question: If contractions begin for the birth of your first child and Leon (Mossy Nissan, San Diego) calls to say your Leaf has arrived what will you do first?
Well, it seemed to work out okay as Miles was 6 days early and the Leaf was ... as you all know, late!
But then, we were about to leave the house for Miles' first vaccine appointment with the pediatrician, (he is now 7 weeks old) and Leon calls - "your car is here"! My wife (understandably) wasn't interested in spending the evening alone with a 7 week old baby cranky from his first shots. So there was only one thing to do. Miles and I had to get the Leaf together!
Eyebrows were raised in the dealership; no, the baby is not a trade in. Leon took over the baby rocking for me so I could sign the lease paperwork. Ben did a fantastic fast track Leaf intro and even installed the car seat for us.
We took off and Miles was asleep in moments. The first stop light, we glide to a halt putting a few electrons back into the battery and then silence ...... and Miles started crying immediately!!!
Oh well! - we love the car - it's meeting all expectations and was worth the wait.

Well welcome Miles! What a perfect name, at least for this group to get to meet. Is it a family name, one that you and your wife just liked, or was there at least a subconscious influence of your solar miles ambition?

Great story about your LEAF delivery. I can picture you at the desk with Leon helping out. Nice.

Great story! Reminds me of the old days when my daughter was that age. For weeks, the only way we could get her to sleep was to drive her around the block in our 91 Ford Escort. Later on we learned that putting her on top of a running clothes dryer worked just as well. Back then, sleep was better than sex....

You're lucky Leon didn't tack on some hidden 'babysitting fee' in the paperwork!!! (or maybe he did!  )

Great story. And it's funny how the quiet made Miles cry....with no competing noise (read: engine), I'll bet he sounded even louder than normal!!

You lucky B^$+^rd now you have a car that’s quiet and a baby that’s …. Oh well you’ll find out!

I remember taking a 5-week old to buy a car (our first and only minivan) many years ago. I'm tempted to borrow another one next time I buy a car. When you look the guy in the eye and say "this is the price, no extras, no extended warranty, you have 5 minutes to decide," he takes it much more seriously when you are carrying a cranky infant.
