Check out what Nissan is bringing to the EV market:

https://www.digitaltrends.com/cars/electric-nissan-leaf-based-suv-scheduled-for-2021-release/

“We’ve heard rumors of a Leaf-based crossover for years, and they’re finally about to materialize. Industry trade journal Automotive News learned Nissan showed the yet-unnamed model to its top American dealers. Photography wasn’t allowed, but some of the people who saw it and learned about it anonymously shed light on what to expect.

On paper, the specs sound good. The crossover has five seats, up to 300 miles of driving range, and it’s capable of hitting 60 mph from a stop in under five seconds. That figure makes it quicker than the curvaceous 370Z, but it won’t be presented or marketed as a sports car. It will arrive as a family-focused do-it-all aimed at buyers seeking a relatively normal car that just happens to be electric.

Nissan will position its next EV above the Leaf, though it won’t be a premium model dropped into the arena Audi, Mercedes-Benz, and Jaguar are fighting in. Its main rivals will include the Tesla Model Y, which is tentatively scheduled to enter production in 2020, and Ford’s upcoming Mustang-inspired EV.”

I was reading about that yesterday at the following motor1 link while looking for info on the 2020 Leaf.

motor1 shows more pics on this EV. It seems to have that "concept car" look to it. I wouldn't be surprised if Nissan changes the look when they finally issue the EV in 2021.

I hope! OMG, that's FUGLY! It even has the ugliest seats I've ever seen. It is a concept car, though, so expect much softer lines, and hopefully real seats.

Those pics are for the IMX concept from 2017.

That article looks like a joke... The description is almost missing... "And it will fly!"

No car producer can expect that their next car after the Leaf will be a futuristic SUV with 300 miles range and drag strip acceleration... That is ridiculous, Are they trying to make Leaf owners drool? Making claims like that is like keeping your mistress hanging around by telling her that you are going to divorce your wife and marry her! Keep on dreaming.

A car of that description would have to be in the $75-100,000 range, which will never sell to EV owners like Leaf owners. That product will never be produced.

Funny stuff: Gear Patrol thinks this EV may be a "Tesla fighter".

I think I'll put these comics down for a while.

Sigh. What is wrong with these "journalists"? Why must every new EV be a "Tesla Fighter"?
