So EJ, our "hero", arrives at an Electrify America station in his CCS car. All the stations are open, so EJ plugs into the CCS side of the Chademo station, plugs in, starts an session, and leaves for a couple of hours because it is just 50kW and EJ's car has a huge battery, and EJ wants a slower charge, as EJ has plans for a few hours and doesn't want to be interrupted to come back to the car.

Along comes a LEAF (or Tesla with a Chademo adapter), and needs a charge. Can't get one from all of the open CCS stations. This other driver might try to find a L2 station nearby, and charge for a few hours until he can limp to another fast charger. Or just wait. Or call a taxi/Uber/Lyft/AAA.

Any comments on what EJ has done?

Buy a CCS car or a Tesla. For now EA heavily favors CCS. Deal with it.
And NO, your scenario does not parallel non Tesla charging at Tesla destination chargers. LOL

IIRC the station that has a 50 kW CHAdeMO also has a 150 kW CCS so your fantasy will not come to pass as described. More likely the CCS car will pick that station without ever realizing what the funny looking CHAdeMO is for.

It is just one more reason to avoid CHAdeMO cars.

A variant of Hanlon's razor: "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by ignorance."
(or the corollary to Clarke's Law: "Any sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice")

Maybe your "EJ" just doesn't know there's a difference between the different stations.

Based on the location you have posted, the answer is pretty straightforward. Unless the theoretically referenced LEAF (or Tesla with a Chademo adapter) has spoken to EJ, they may not know what he is up to, but they don't need to and won't be troubled by it.

1000' away is:

Which has a 10 out of 10 rating, has J-1772, CHAdeMO, and CCS/SAE, so all are happy and no one had to even bother looking up who was actively charging before deciding to show up.

It seems to me that EJ used a dual capability (CCS/Chademo) charging station, when he should have used one with only CCS. His move is an inconvenience to EVs with Chademo capability. Yes, there is another station nearby, but it is still an inconvenience.

I do not know why EJ used that station. It could be due to ignorance, he did not realize that the station had 2 plugs, he realized what happened but was too lazy to move his car, etc. However, I was in a similar situation back in Spring, where all EvGo stations were open, but I inadvertently parked my car in what seemed to be the correct spot for an CCS/Chademo charging station at the mall. I actually ended up parking by the EVGo L2 charging station, which was a bit off to the side. I was in my car while it charged, but did not realize what was happening until an older Leaf pulled up by the adjacent CCS/Chademo charging station, plugged in, then the driver asked me if I was using the L2 station. I said no, that I was using the quick charge station, like him. He did not say anything else, then went into the mall. A few minutes later, I ended my charging session, wondering why he asked me about the L2. After driving away, it dawned on me that I was parked in the spot meant for the L2 station, and the other driver probably wanted to use the L2 station, which I was blocking. I wish he would have told me that he was interested in using the L2. I would have no problem admitting my fault and moving my car over.
