Current Battery Replacement Quote Cost

Tue Jun 16, 2020 11:43 am

Let me get to the chase. The battery is $7,670. Labor a flat $600. Tax my area is 9.75% (county, state, city and some other liberal Dem tax). At least property tax is not high and there is no income tax.

$8270 × 1.0975 = 9,076.33. HA HA HA HA. This is Nissan saying we don't want your business ,
🖕 off.

EDIT I have a 2015 Leaf with 30K miles and a 24 KWh battery. See comments below

Why would it be a 40 kWh pack?

'13 Leaf SV w/QC + LED & premium packages (lease over, car returned)

Please don't PM me with Leaf questions. Just post in the topic that seems most appropriate.

I'm going to assume you live in Washington state, in which case you can get a battery replacement from EV-rides by driving to Portland: https://www.evridesllc.com

They have more information about Leaf battery upgrades on their Facebook page. Here's a copy of their post so you don't have to look it up yourself:
We offer Nissan Leaf battery upgrade service. Replace your old battery with a newer, original model. Also we offer Chademo quick charge and 6.6kW Charger upgrade (available only for 2013+ Leaf models)
>>> Options and Warranty <<<
We can replace your worn 24kWh battery with an as-new one or upgrade to 30kWh, 40kWh or even 62kWh battery
We offer 2 years warranty on labor and workmanship. 2 years or 30000miles, whichever comes first, capacity warranty on installed batteries (if capacity drops below 70%)
>>> Technical <<<
We source our batteries from newer models (donor cars) and are tested to be as-new. Nissan don’t sell new battery packs.
>>> Installation <<<
Battery installation usually takes 2-3 days. 11-12 Leaf models and 62kWh battery might take 3-4days
We help our out of state customers to arrange transportation and ship your Leaf to our shop in Portland, OR.
>>> Pricing <<<
Price includes installation and old battery in exchange
24kWh battery starting at $2500
30kWh battery starting at $3500
40kWh battery starting at $6500
62kWh battery starting at $8500
Finally, just guessing based on the delivery date you list in your profile, I assume you have a 30kWh battery. If that's the case, then keep in mind that those are being replaced by 40kWh batteries, so even from Nissan you would be getting an upgrade.

Pretty sure the OP has a 2015 and that he lives in Memphis. If so, the pricing he posted would be for a 24 kWh pack and, unless there is an independent EV specialist near Memphis, who is offering pack upgrades, a 24 kWh pack from a Nissan dealership is very likely his only option.

Given the climate in Memphis, replacing a 2015 LEAF battery pack with another AESC 24 kWh pack doesn't seem like money well spent to me...

Thanks for the great replies.... Yes 24 KwH in a 2015 LEAF SV Silver, Nav, LED lights, CHAdeMO fast Charge and is in Memphis.....

WTF happened to failing Li-Ion prices.... Ha ha.

My other car is a VW TDI diesel that gets 50 MPG on freeway, but it is not great for short errands. I go for 400-700 trips (one way) a few times a year.... Having the electric car has cut my millage on my VW which I plan on having for another 10 years? It only has 115K and should go 300K. So it does round out my fleet.

I'm curious: what does it (typically) cost to "ship" cars across the country? Is it by the mile? Region? Weight?
2011 Blue Ocean SV w/floor mats & window tint
12v LiFePO4 battery & FIAMM 74100 horns
Wet Okole seat covers (front)
Tor's low-power heater mod
2013 sun visor
3G modem upgrade
L2 EVSE Upgrade
Battery Pack replaced (Rev E) @51 months and 41k miles
