Be warned that many if not most of the coin cell batteries sold on Amazon.com are lousy counterfeits. The local grocery store is a safer place to buy them. If you have a battery tester that will test button cells, use it first.

Yes i have a battery tester ty and I have pruchased specialist batteries that we fake on amazon before sp i made sure i bought energizer battery from energizer itself... but for sure test them as could always be old stock. Lol i literally live in a very small town our grocery doesn't even sell tube batteries i think... and as im going everywhere on foot atm amazon is a blessing! But yes again very good advice, buyer beware for most things on amazon.

This video should help visualize what can go wrong with a 12 volt battery that appears to be "normal" according to Nissan or the local auto parts dealer place when they test the battery. This battery is a little over +3 years old and appears to be in fine condition from my wife's 2018 Leaf, but doing a simple voltage check doesn't show the real problem it has. A load under 200 watts kills the battery quickly. It's enough to start the Leaf in warm weather, but what happens when it gets cold?

Thanks for the informative video lol i know a little about cars in general thanks to my late father who loved them but next to nothing about electric cars so my local nissan mechanic looked at the car yesterday and said that he had to reprogram the keyfob as the car was not turning off properly intermittently then he tested some more and ended up replacing the vcm. He said he never has seen in 10 years a leaf with that problem but could tell the vcm had been worked on before. He thinks that shoud solve the problem but will drive the car a few days as its been intermittent problems both when car just parked and after charging always the apply parking brake error though. Im just glad im not the one paying for that uber expensive part!

But i read this thread and am a bit worried now the vcm is not the problem. https://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=31167&start=10

The car was doing this funny new thing when it was towed again- not charging and beeping at me i got the low bttery keyfob error so replaced the button battery and t/m system error contact dealer flashed briefly before being replaced with that apply parking brake when in park message and car would not shift out of park so winching it on the flatbed was a bear.

So after i get it back from a dealer im thinking of taking it to a electrical expert mechanic my buddy knows, he apparently worked only on car electrical systems for 30+ years, i figure even if not familiar with a leaf wires are wires and he can at least tell if any other components have been worked on and test all the major curcuits.

Any insights or something i might tell that fellow to pay attention to?

Thanks agian, just praying the problem is solved so i can have a safe and reliable green car.
