It's too late. They bought it already.

From their responses, they admit they didn't know much about cars or EVs and it apparently didn't occur to them about the degradation or battery replacement cost. It is their first post in that Leaf group.

I meant more as a way to reduce the number of future such unfortunate incidents.

Here were go yet again. Someone bought a used '11 Leaf at https://www.facebook.com/groups/4377412 ... 028469879/, doesn't tell us how many capacity bars it has, says they feel the range is about 30 miles and was apparently told that a replacement battery is $1.3K. Sigh...
We finally got a reply. They say they paid $4K and claim it's a 6 bar car! Ugh! Has 58K miles.

The advertisement that the battery is $1.3k is scummy, but $4k is not not horribly bad. I sold my 7 bar 2011 SL 55k miles with cosmetic damage on the outside for $3500. If they get themselves a 40 kWh battery from a wreck and install it with a Canbus adapter, they'd have a 125 mile Leaf for < $10k. If I had that car, that's what I'd do.

Ok, this person (initials MT) in Los Angeles has a 3 (!) bar remaining '11 with 115K miles. Pic of dash and bars at https://www.facebook.com/groups/nissan. ... 9481376202. Unfortunately, the group is a private one.

I think this is the worst I've seen of a Leaf in the US.

Do you have a similar graph for the original battery?

No - purchase the Leaf as a 10 bar - fairly quickly went to the 8 bars. No problems with Nissan replacing it - very professional service here in Houston, TX (Sterling McCall).
