Any charging stations showing up on the Nav?

So far I only see ones I have used. Once I use them it says "Automatically adding charger location" then I get that out.

But I have scrolled around the map and had it update but it always says none in range.

I am starting to wonder if they are using us all to crowdsource their database. That would be funny. Though it may mean people would drive to my place to get a charge if it reports this location so I doubt it. I suspect they just haven't rolled them out.

Another interesting point is the sample images in the manual show local locations. I know these have AVCON/SPI chargers but I suspect not J1772 yet, but could be wrong. Looks like they used sample data from existing chargers.

Costco Alhambra
HomeDepot Newbury Park
Main Place Mall San.. (Santa Monica?)
San Diego Wild Animal Park

The middle two ... I read about those somewhere last few days ... trying to find the source ...

Here's one of them (look at comment on right for 1/7/2011): http://www.evchargermaps.com/?SiteID=90401_4

And here's a HomeDepot sighting in Downey. So Newbury Park might also have them ?

I would think that any charger location 'found' by a Leafer wouldn't be reported to everyone until 3 different people use the same one. One or two Leafers might use the charger at my house, but the chances of 3 different people using it would be rare, indeed! Nissan should have a method for us to augment their database.

In answer to your question, no I'm not seeing any either. :?

The Downey home depot is different. I have that one in my DB. I was a Clipper Creek mod on an old Avcon site.

And the other sighting was me on Thursday :) Close to Santa Monica Mainplace (that is where I lunched) but that site is the Civic Center. About 3 blocks away. I am unaware of any chargers actually at the Mainplace. The just did a big remodel and it might not be called that anymore.

Interested overall. I would have though they would have preseeded with all the Nissan Dealers.

A couple of interesting things to note then ...

1. Looks like we have independent verification that the Avcon upgrade project is progressing. http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1168&start=17

2. Other Home Depot's are listed at EVChargerNews with Avcons, and so the Newbury Park (Thousand Oaks ???) could be one of the upgraded ones too: http://www.evchargermaps.com/?SiteID=91320_1&Want=SPI%20LPI%20AVC%20OC&Zoom=17 Same might be the case with the Costco Alhambra: http://www.evchargermaps.com/?SiteID=91803_1&Want=SPI%20LPI%20AVC%20OC&Zoom=17

It's just that the EVCN comments are not yet updated to show the J1772 upgrades :)

I am doing some work with the Ecotality project to put in some chargers at a couple of commuter rail stations, and I can tell you that while these guys are very organized they are having some permittting issues that are slowing them down. They did a pretty thorough job of working with planning agencies and companies to site them. But I think installs are a little slower than hoped. Am confident that with the quality and expertise of the people I have met working on the project that they will get it moving. My guess is that is part of why we aren't seeing them on the nav.

The way I understand it the auto add charger station setting places chargers you use on your list as you use them (using GPS to add them). When I select the option for nearest chargers it now shows my home location and Gonewild's house as I was there yesterday and we tested his charging dock. I asked customer support and stations added in this fashion are only stored on the car's system and not transmitted to the global database (no worries of people knocking on your door asking for a charge).

I only know of the one same DCQ active. But there are lots of J1772s.

My EVChargerFinder iPhone app update v2.2 was just released in the app store. It has all my latest updates from Saturday (I will update more tonight).

This lists 41 J1772 public chargers and one DCQ (Vacaville) currently active. Mostly in Los Angeles area and South Carolina (I had a big list from PlugInCarolina) but scattered others.

Any updates I get from this board or other sources will go right in as well as to EVChargerNews and anyone who wants it off the public Google doc.

Kelangst: If you have a contact at Ecotality interested in providing locations, let me know. I have tried to contact them and failed... :(

Does that QC location show up via CARWINGS?

I don't have my Leaf yet so I don't know if it shows up on Carwings. I would hope that it would.

As far as I can tell, no charge stations other than ones you have visited and used show up currently in CarWings. I guess that they will populate that at some point, but currently, I have looked in various areas and it does not report any stations.

I can positively say that any place I've charged at in my LEAF does come up on my charger list after that, including the stop we made in Temecula at Quality Nissan and including some L1 charge locations as well...

If I return to any of those locations and turn the car off and don't plug in, the car sends me an email in 5 minutes (which is configurable) telling me that I'm near a charger but haven't plugged in.
