Seasonal Effect on Battery Capacity

Tue Mar 27, 2018 12:46 am

Some people report that degradation slows in the winter while others see a winter improvement. My car is showing first year signs of being one of the latter; a couple more years and I will know for sure. The graphs below are from a Google Sheet I update about once monthly, and if I have posted correctly, these graphs will update automatically as time passes.

Those two graphs do not prove that they are related to each other at this point. The top graph only appears to show "battery loss of voltage" over time. You did not indicate how you have measured "battery capacity loss" in KWH?

There is no evidence that there is a temperature-related effect. Also, we cannot say that there is "battery degradation" unless it continues steadily over time. I think one year is really a short amount of time to measure battery capacity loss.
