I have a 2016 European Leaf in Poland and I'm trying to get permission to add an American hitch:

After getting legal permission to increase the tow capacity from "----" to 700 kg (IF I can do this, but it is a big IF), I'd need to add lights to the trailer (reverse lights, position lights, brake lights). Has anyone done this with their Leaf? I mostly want to have a bicycle hitch, but I'd also light to haul more stuff during a remodel. I've put interior doors in my previous 2013 Leaf, but drywall will be a bit harder (yes, I know… I might be able to haul ~20 sheets with a class 1 hitch, but it is only 5 km).

Yeah I was hauling about 650 pounds (in kilograms that's about 2 fat people) of 2, 3 and 4 inch emt conduit with my leaf yesterday for a little electrical project.
The leaf will tow fine using that hitch.
I don't even turn the trailer brakes on for anything under about 300 to 400kg.

My problem is that I legally have to have all lights on anything connected to the car (in Europe, anyway). I have to buy a special European bike rack with lights and, yes, a license plate.

Is it easy to wire the lights to the trailer hitch? I'm not sure how the lights are set up. I'm guessing I can put quite a lot of power through the circuits because the lights should limit the power, not the design of the circuit itself, right?

Aside from the trailer butchering my range towing with the leaf is a pleasure and so much cheaper than anything gasoline powered.
Only problem is one run to the next town over with the trailer and back and the leaf is on the charger for the rest of the day, until I fix my 10kw chademo.

If I was going to do anything like that I would just be adding battery capacity to my leaf so I can use it all the time.
The leaf no trouble towing it just lacks battery capacity to do longer distances.
It's battery limits it to around the city or next town over.

Just installed this hitch receiver on my 2019 this morning.
