Hello,

I'm wondering if anyone knows how to implement any kind of remote climate control or app control on a '19 S Plus. I understand previous S models didn't have the same head unit, and so connection wasn't possible, but the S Plus DOES have the same head unit as the SV and SL Plus, just no remote connect. So, is it just hidden, and can it be enabled, and if not, is there any aftermarket workaround?

Thanks so much for any ideas or clarifications you may have!

The telematics control unit (cellular data modem) is separate from the head unit. SVs and SLs come with a subscription to EV Connect through AT&T and Nissan's servers. Even if you purchase and install the missing hardware, you won't have the necessary subscription (and probably not the necessary programming the various modules in the car need to communicate and respond to remote status or control requests). You need to purchase/lease an SV or SL if you want the remote access features. In my opinion, this limitation of the S and S+ models should be made more clear to potential buyers.

There have been several cases in which Leaf buyers were specifically told, by Nissan salespeople, that the S does have remote climate control functionality. That should be the basis for a buyback.
