Navigation screen night mode not working

The navigation map screen used to turn dark when I turned on my lights on but recently I noticed that it doesn't switch to "night mode" anymore. It is very annoying to have this bright screen in your face! I can't find any settings about this automatic switch to "night mode". Has anybody experienced this problem?

Try the somewhat non-obvious "day/night" button in the lower left corner of the narrow, black plastic Nav-screen bezel (frame).

That is likely to "fix" the problem.

From personal experience, one can accidentally set the night mode to maximum
brightness. There are two bright/dim settings; the one that is active when you adjust
it up/down depends on which mode you are in.

I use the "night" mode black background for both day and night.

Only the brightness changes.

Be sure that the day/night mode is in auto mode. This can be day/auto or night/auto depending upon when you are setting it. Toggle the lower left day/night button until you reach this setting. Also, as others mentioned be sure the brightness level in each setting is appropriate for you. Good luck.
