Typical burst or bead-failure pressures are in the 300-400 PSI range. Rims are more likely to fail than the tire itself.

Running your tire at the sidewall max pressures (or higher) may not be ideal from a performance or even treadwear standpoint, but it's hardly at risk for burst.

BTW the EP422 is the Mud & Snow version of the EP100. No snow where I live, so I'll buy EP100's (or Michelin equivalent) when replacement time comes in hope of a little better grip.

Since u all have it covered I am not commenting on the ideal tire pressure other to say I set mine 42 all around the day I got my Leaf based on it giving a 5% increase in range performance

Per what testing? I'm not saying it isn't so, but since you did it day one, it's obvious that you didn't actually verify a 5% increase. Also, my understanding has always been that maintaining the pressure diff. front-to-rear was important for safety.

the increase in efficiency from less rolling resistance from increasing tire pressure is not dependent upon the method of motivation.

get your bike out. take some air out of the tires and tell me you dont feel a difference while climbing that very slight grade

Right after this became a "spirited" discussion, I did a quick Google search and immediately came across the PriusChat.com threads on tire pressure and realized that this is a lot more controversial than even trying to agree that a police officer won't pull you over for doing 5 MPH over the speed limit! :lol:

To each their own, however I've always ran maximum sidewall pressure in all my vehicles and only had a problem once with some cheap Chinese tires from Les Schwab here in the northwest. Ironically, they told me that since the wear was not in the center of the tires (it was the outer edges) that I must have always driven them under-pressure. :lol: That was the last time I bought tires from them and immediately went to America's Tire to get new kicks, ended up being the best tires I ever owned (they were Kumho).
