Tesla isn't open. A walled garden. It's not the money. It's the control.
BS

Ask Tesla if they would make their protocol open in return for payment for what they spent on the Supercharger network.
The Supercharger network is closed and private BECAUSE it was privately funded.
Payment? Yes, and the rest of it. Tesla wanted more than payment.

In any case, you don't get it. EA is not "supporting" CHAdeMO, they are playing the game needed to exclude the Tesla connector.
How many CHAdeMO connectors on Tesla SuperChargers, again?
How much dieselgate funds spent on the Supercharger network, again ?

Troll elsewhere.
There's no way you're disappointed that your car has limited access to EA's network, right?

Not really EA, but other CCS stations in Colorado. And when Alamosa gets its Supercharger, I won't care about CCS at all.

That said, it could much, much worse. Imagine no Supercharger network ::shudder::

Here in the north east, I have never once needed access to any other DC charging network. That includes drives from MA west to OH, south to VA, and north to ME.

In 2017 I briefly considered borrowing a friend's CHAdeMO adapter to for a trip to Bar Harbor, ME, but we ended up taking the CRV we used to own since it had a hitch for the bike rack. The X has replaced that car, and the SuperCharger expansion across Maine since then has eliminated any question of needing CHAdeMO. When we bring the bikes up to Bar Harbor this year, we'll just use the X.

(and back in 2017 my wife was against using the Model S for that trip as she was highly concerned about using an EV for that sort of trip; now in 2021 she is doing all the planning the trip of the trip in the Model X)

Were a reasonably priced CCS adapter become available, I'd probably consider it. But given where I live, I'm not sure how much I'd ever use it.
