The car pat of Mitsu was already in deep problems. I mark their downward spiral ever since the top management was exposed in a cover-up of car defects. I gave up on them a couple years earlier than that when they sold crap Hyundai as a Mitsu brand. On a scale of Corporate goodness in Japan, Toyota, Honda, Subara and Mazda are at the top while Nissan and Mitsu are at the bottom.

i like Nissan and their cars, it's one of the reasons I got a Leaf, well, two. I've had quite a few Nissan's over the years and I've had nothing but good things to say about them. I think the Leaf is pretty good too considering what all the other manufactures have done. Looking at all the things that go wrong with most other cars they are very good. I know some might say "but look at all of the issues listed in this forum." this forum give us a focus that most other cars never get.. except maybe some select hybrids and other EVs.

I like my leaf for everything but battery and that is just a part in the car. now if Nissan would go more in the tesla direction, but they have dealers doing that and a very poor job some dealers do. Dealers are supposed to represent Nissan but they are in business to make money in any way they can which doesn't always support after sales very well, if at all. Nissan needs to work with the car owners who already have a nissan and not left it all to dealerships or excellent forums like this.

My parents have had a few mits in the past (80's). I liked those cars too those they were never a Toyota or honda quality, they were much better the the domestic cars running around at the time.

Well, let us see how Nissan can screw this company up.

Mitsubishi was "Dead Brand Walking" long before Nissan took an interest in them. They basically started to unravel after their decades-long partnership with Chrysler had ended.

It's a shame too, as they had some iconic vehicles in their lineup. But go into any Mitsubishi dealership today and it's just...sad. Even at the LA auto show they were relegated to the back most corner of the show.

Toyota or Honda quality today is not the same as it was in the 80's or 90's. I've owned examples of both, new, and today's equivalents are definitely cheapened.

ha ha, probably. From 2009 until 2015 I was driving my old VW bug 1967 each day until I got fed up with getting a shower when I landed on a puddle so the upgrade was quite stark.

I just stumbled across this from 2019:
Mitsubishi Motors, citing costs, to move U.S. HQ to Tennessee, exiting Cypress
Car manufacturer's North American hub had been in Cypress
https://www.ocregister.com/2019/06/25/mitsubishi-to-move-corporate-hq-to-tennessee-exiting-cypress/
Mitsubishi Motors, which has had its North American headquarters in Orange County for 31 years, is relocating the Southern California hub to Nashville, Tenn., joining a migration of Japanese automakers that have exited the Golden State for lower-cost Southern states.

The decision to move to Franklin, a suburb of Nashville, was based on lower operating costs in Tennessee, the company said Tuesday, June 25. Mitsubishi also wants to operate closer to Nissan North America and Renault, two of its operational partnerships that are also in Tennessee.
Nissan NA moved to Franklin, TN many years ago.

I kind of have to agree with you; in fact, my Leaf is on it's way to becoming the longest-owned vehicle. I've owned a few Nissan cars (besides my Leaf) as far back as 1990 (satisfied my 300ZX fetish).

Interesting, that was back in 2019, so does that mean they are here....somewhere? :? I haven't noticed any new mega-office buildings pop-up recently with a large Mitsubishi sign on it like Nissan HQ does. As long as they keep bringing massive free EV charging QC, I'm happy!

Excellent, the picture was helpful because I know where that building is. They just finished it this year, so yeah, they have a HQ here now, thanks for the links! I'll go spying on them later to see what they have around the building.

I have had quite a few Nissan/ Datsuns since the first 1600 pickup, a 1970 I think, and I currently have a 1998 Mitsubishi FG which is a tough machine. So between the truck and the Leaf I need these guys not to disappear too fast.......
