"up to 458 kilometers under the WLTC Japan standard"

I'll guess WLTP
1 WLTP = ~ 0.7 EPA

So 458 WLTP km = 458*0.62*0.7 = 200 EPA miles

Based on Nissan's press release on the show, it sounds like they are talking about the existing Leaf+ having the extra 40% capacity:
https://global.nissannews.com/en/releas ... 91001-02-e

As the article says: "40% additional range (up to 458 kilometers under the WLTC Japan standard)"
458 km [285 mi]
I can't read Japanese but one can clearly see these (for example) talking about 458 km on WLTC on a 62 kWh Leaf.

To get EPA from WLTP you divide ELTP by 1.12

sooooo. 458 / 1.12 = 408 km.

I did notice them talking about Propilot two though. I wonder if that will be on the 2020’s.

Right you are, going by this article
https://insideevs.com/features/343231/h ... wltp-nedc/
although note the ~ 0.1 SD. I am unsure if the stated conversion is EV specific since that could well be different than ICE. I also don't know if Japan adds its own wrinkle to the WLTP. The Nissan/UK website reports a range of "up to" 239 miles for the E+; EPA reports 215 - 225 miles depending on trim. 239/215 = 1.11

I mistakenly used the NEDC/EPA conversion earlier. Thanks for the correction. Within the range of error of the WLTP/EPA this story is very likely a ~ 62 kWh LEAF. Any small differences could probably be explained by OEM tyre choices

Yes, BUT, It also states the Leaf e+ that was introduced earlier this year has the 40% additional range.

Looks like it’s the Plus with the 62 kWh battery.
Yah. I tend to agree. The Eplus has about 40 percent more range than the standard leaf. I think they calculated that 458 number incorrectly from the existing Eplus. Or they are talking about a 2021 model.
What I mean:
"existing Leaf+" = this year's Leaf e+

That 458 km [285 mi] range is based on the Japanese standard and seems accurate for what Japan reported for the Leaf e+ this year. Based on the USA standard from the EPA, the e+ range is 364 km [226 mi].

Leaf Update, Increased Range, At 2019 Tokyo Motor Show?

Fri Oct 18, 2019 3:50 pm

I stumble upon this article online this morning which seems to indicate there is a Leaf update being displayed at this weeks Tokyo Motor Show.
I've had a look online and at the Nissan Global newsroom website but can't find any other mention of it. Has anyone else heard anything or read anything anywhere?
Tokyo Motor Show runs from 24 October to 4 November.
Take the info with a little bit of scepticism.

Don't we already have another thread about this?

Mods, please merge.

I will be at Tokyo Motor Show but on two general public weekdays (https://www.tokyo-motorshow.com/en/pres ... 81009.html), so any announcements will certainly happen (and be in the press) before I arrive.
