I may follow your every move. I have an unused dryer plug, too, and 100' wire run if they can't use the existing one. I had my assessment the day before you, I think, and still don't have my quote either. However, since I think I can get by just fine on Level I charging only, I will probably wait to see how that works out first.

That's funny. I have a 25-mile RT commute and was thinking of just sticking with Level 1 also. Five hours or so at 120V to top off the charge every night seems fine to me. But I plan to go ahead with some in-garage L2 solution to ease my wife's anxiety about charging, or maybe to make the car more useful for additional errands and short trips.

Oops, just got my quote in. About $2600 for the EVSE plus a 15-foot run of conduit along one wall to the existing breaker panel. I'll definitely wait for Leviton.

Just adding to the list. I'm just outside of Tucson, AZ:
Inspection on 7/12
Received a call about credit card "problems" on Aug 11 or 12
Got my quote on 8/13
Standard Install: $1,296.68
Permit: $155.00

I went ahead and called an electrician that has done some work for me before. He estimated $500 for the install. I called AV, asked them to re-evaluate my quote and to put me on the list for getting just the unit from them.

Silly question: Does the $100 we paid AV for this "evaluation" apply towards our purchase? I'm guessing not, but one can hope.

Depending on when some of the other units are coming out, I may just tell AV to shove it.

Doesn't look like it. At least it's not credited on the estimate anyplace. Though you should be able to take it as part of your tax credit - it's part of the cost to put your EVSE into service, after all.

From Nissan website:
step 1 - assess
to determine how well-suited your home is to receive a charging dock, you need to schedule an assessment with a certified AeroVironment Inc. electrician. here's how it works:

•go to the Nissan LEAF website to schedule a time for a visit
•pay your $100 home assessment fee (deductible from the total cost of the installation)
End of April 2013: Traded my 2011 SL for a 2013 S with charge pkg.

Hmm....so when do you suppose they plan on deducting it? 'Cause it certainly isn't referenced on the estimate. Something else I may have to print off to have!

Thanks - that seems familiar now - that the $100 wasn't "refundable" like the $100 on the car itself, but that it was going to be part of the installation. But I should have gone back and looked - appreciate it. So the question is now, does the quote already include that $100 deduction? If so then their costs are even that much more outrageous. If not, then presumably I can get the $100 deducted off of their $721.12 EVSE price. If this is the case then I will be leaning a little more towards staying with them instead of going for someone else's EVSE. Unless, of course, they are sticking by literally the 'cost of the installation' and won't apply it towards the unit itself.

Hi Jason!
Please keep me posted if the $100 we put down can go towards the EVSE. I will definately purchase the EVSE if we can use the $100 towards purchasing it!
Thanks!
