2014 LEAF SL for sale

Sat Sep 11, 2021 6:30 pm

$7,500. Syracuse, NY 13066. This is the highest trim level and is loaded. Garaged. I'm buying a Chevy Bolt for cross country trips but the LEAF actually drives much better. Outstanding commuter car. Filling with electricity is about half the price versus gas in my 40 mpg Honda Fit. And no oil changes or tune up work needed. The ride quality and driving dynamics of this car are excellent. Truly a comfortable joy to drive. Toasty heated leather seat and steering wheel. Timer for cabin preconditioning has it all warmed up before you get in with no fumes and the SL came with a heat pump which is 300% more efficient than a resistive heater in cool weather. Tinted glass and window deflectors. Bright LED headlights. Keyless entry and start. This battery happens to be exceptional still showing 11 bars and 80% of capacity remaining as shown on LeafSpy. 80 miles Summer, 50 miles if sub zero F and snow. DC fast charge for trips. The Bose premium stereo is very musical and has an actual cd drive. Touch screen navi. Very high tech displays, Nissan wanted to make this a showcase car, 4.2 miles/ kWh Summer = 141 mpgE. All season floor mats over the deluxe carpet mats. I added a spare tire, jack, and breaker bar. Professionally detailed. Clean title in hand. See the cargurus ad for more photos.

That looks like a great price.

I will note though that you say "100 mi range" in the cargurus listing, which is definitely not the case. I'd even flag your "80 miles Summer, 50 miles if sub zero F and snow"; I guess that's the case if you drive it very carefully at 35 MPH. When I sold my 2013 with 12 bars / 87% SOH, I was blatantly honest and told purchasers that it had a range of 70 miles in the summer and 55 in the winter when running heat. I doubt I'd have gotten even 50 miles range with "sub zero F and snow" , though.

The Cargurus titles are autofill when you enter the year and model. I have no control over that content. I currently get 4.2 miles/ kWh summer and 3.5 Winter on my 80% highway commute with an average speed of 43 mph including stop and go traffic on both ends and many times of just sitting in the car talking on the phone. Earlier in the spring I was already getting 4.0

That is a nice looking car, i have the same color 2012 but down to 7 bars with only 55k miles, so i'm thinking about trading up. Great commuter car for sure.

Wondering if it is a better chemistry pack, or how does it stay so much better for so many miles.

Was this a lease return or what is the history of the 4 owners?

Mid 13 to 15 got better chemistry. Must be all of the owners lived in the cool NE USA and took good care of the charging protocols.

The Leaf got the pack that I call the "Wolf" pack in April of 2013, and it came with the cars until the 2015 model year. The Wolf pack is similar to the Lizard pack in most ways, but is less resistant to heat. It is much better than the original "Canary" pack.

For July and August I average 4.2 miles/ kWh at 43 mph. Which would be higher if I didn't sit in the car on the phone after I get home for another 2 hours/ week.

21 kWh usable new (LSP shows 22kWh max, and car goes to turtle at 1-1.5 kWh). At 80% remaining capacity (SOH) it leaves 16.8kWh. 16.8 kWh * 4.2 mi/kWh = 70.56 miles range.

I don't think I'm wrong on the math, but I'm sure someone will correct me if I am.

But selling a LEAF with a 20% degraded battery and claiming 80 miles range seems a stretch.

That said, my son bought a 2015 with a 20% degraded battery and told me he's getting 100 miles of range on it. I said "no way!". He then showed me he's getting 5.8 mi/kWh. :o  So what do I know.

When I calculate how much charge to put in with my programmable Juicebox, the percentage added calculation is correct when using 20kWh as a total capacity for the battery. ie. if I get home at 25% and want to add 60% I calculate 20,000 x .6 divided by 240v divided by 10A = 5 hours. Viola. 85% in the morning. So barring a few percent loss in the charger. The car has close to 20kWh remaining. When I charge to 100% (very rarely) the guessometer shows way over 80 miles.
