Android Auto access to CAN data

Thu Dec 05, 2019 9:44 am

Android Auto is able to act as a replacement to ODB-II dongles on rooted Android phones on some vehicles and Unfortunately, only 'VAG' cars are supported (, which implements a so called VW 'EX-LAP' protocol to communicate to the car via Android Auto interface. Is anyone aware of something similar that would work for Nissan Leaf 2018+?

Currently, a solution using and ODB-II dongle paired with Leaf-spy PRO works, but it is clunky to setup, while the Android Auto-based solution would start immediately in the background once you plug your phone into the car, which would make it much more 'useful' -> it can potentially collect stats, calculate more realistic driving range, and generally improve the driving experience.

Any insight on this?
