SOC-Meter - Miscellaneous Questions

Mon Sep 26, 2011 2:55 pm

If you have questions that might be of general interest, ask here.

If it is a private question, please include "SOC-METER QUESTION" in the Subject line of any communication to me.

NOTE:
Before asking a question, please read at least the first few posts of the SOC-Meter threads ... to get answers to most of your questions.

The properly-finished DIY SOC-Meter - Question Answers:
1. Just plugs into the On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) connector that the
Nissan service department would use.
2. Best to remove it before leaving the LEAF for service.
3. It just "listens" to the selected CAN bus, and does not attempt
to "write" anything to the car, or change anything in the car.

Are there any pictures of this device installed in a car?

For those of us technically challenged how/where to connect it (is this a PnP device) how it will help over the Leaf gauges.
Is there a user manual?

How best to use the data it provides e.g. % batt reserve = miles left. What data does it give you, and yes a few shots of it in action.

Also some info on whether this kit requires opening up something that may invalidate warranty? Or can it be removed entirely for warranty service?

It just plugs into the diagnostic connector under the dash. Easy to remove.

I added answers to most of the questions in additions to my first post.

I will try to add some pictures soon, as soon as
I get them "shrunk" to suitable (lower) resolution.

For what the SOC-Meter does, please read some of the companion threads.
Thanks, Gary

Using PayPal and PayPal Fees:

Sourcing a "Personal Transfer" from a balance in your PayPal account has no fee.
Sourcing a "Personal Transfer" directly from a Linked Bank Account might have no fee.

Sourcing funds from any Debit or Credit Card has a PayPal fee.

Specifying that the transaction is a "Purchase" (even if sourcing your payment
from a PayPal account balance or linked Bank Account), has a PayPal fee.

The PayPal fee (inside the USA) is about a 3% fee.

Yes, International fees are more.

Generally the fees are hidden from the "Buyer", but it seems
like PayPal even tries to hide them from the "Seller" as well.

Here's a photo of it installed (but switched off so as not to throw off the contrast):
