it never materialized. it is not as if all those plans to fix the problem were needed. they just went away.
That's actually not quite true.. At least for business/gov sector.
There were numerous things that needed fixing, and some things didn't make it.
There were bad results when 2000 actually hit..
I saw mostly billing issues and other things like that.. A LOT of the older systems used 2 character year fields.
And it would have been much worse had the work not happened.
It wasn't any major disaster, but it wasn't nothing either.. ;-)

I'm glad they got a sunny day, and got to put their planning to work. There are many disasters whose timing you can predict. And I'm glad it turned out OK.
And there goes the first capacity bar! At 24,000 mi on 9/9/2013.
Second bar at 30,500 mi on 2/7/2015.

Of course they did. We already know that grid stability increases with each addition of renewables, and that Europe's got this under control. ;)
One indisputable piece of evidence on behalf of this new model: Power outages in Germany have decreased (to 15.3 minutes in 2013) as the renewable content of its power supply has increased since 2006; in all of Europe, only Denmark (which has higher renewable content than Germany in its power supply) and Luxembourg have higher supply security. ... hange.html ... 34230.html
