Only took 19 months, but they weren't in any particular hurry, and they did it on solar power alone, which is pretty remarkable. Not a cheap build, though...

Cool! And they're only 500 years too late to be able to claim to be the first to circumnavigate the globe on solar power alone. Ferdinand Magellan's crew did it first when they completed the voyage in 1522. Of course the difference is that Magellan's ship was solar-wind-powered while this ship is solar-electric-powered.

I wonder how the costs of the two voyages compare in terms of the amount of wealth needed to purchase and equip the two ships. Perhaps they were quite similar...
