Re: NASHVILLE TENNESSEE - LEAF

I found the the dealer websites are useless unless you want a bunch of car sale spam.
Decide what your radius for purchase is (100 mi?). Call every LEAF certified dealer in that radius and ask to speak to the LEAF sales specialist (they'll hand you off to "lease" if you're not clear).
Decide what LEAF model/features you want and tell the sales weenie you're looking for their best offer, before you can choose them as your PD.
If they say "MSRP" tell them you've already gotten an MSRP offer and are looking for something better.
It's work, but that's what seems to have worked around here (West Coast).
You might also expose them to this forum and let them know they'll be getting free advertising if you decide to go with them. Some dealers prefer to remain anonymous but offer great deals anyway.

The "we can't talk unless we're your PD" is b.s.
IMHO

I solicited quotes from 10 dealers within 50 miles of Nashville. I got 6 responses. The difference between the hughest and lowest quotes was almost $2,000. All negotiations occurred prior to the official RAQ process. My advice is to talk to Justin Garza at Newton Nissan in Gallatin. Tell him Brad sent you.

Agreed. This is just one way to get you 'locked in'. You shouldn't select a dealer as your P.D.
until you have found one with which you have an agreed price/terms. Considering Nissan's
current ordering process, if you hear the above line, it's best to work with another dealer.
Otherwise, who knows what other 'lines' you will hear before the ordering process is done.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I'll let you know how my conversations go.

It’s a real shame that Nissan aren’t using the launch of the LEAF to revamp the archaic car purchasing process. If they would publish the details of the car along with the warranty, people could make informed decisions on their purchase rather than having to decode all the fluff being published by their marketing machine.

I’m still amazed that Nissan felt the need to send a paper brochure on the purchasing process to people that had already made a reservation.

I live in Medina, TN which is 15 miles north of Jackson, TN in the western portion of our state. I reserved my Leaf on May 10, it could have been an earlier reservation date except for a glitch on the Nissa website which prevented me from reserving on April 20th and when they finally got back to me I was traveling. My current status is that I am to receive an email in December which would then allow me to order in December. My Nissan dealer is Carlock Nissan of Jackson. I did have the AV home inspection for an EVSE unit in August, like most of the posts from California indicate, it was a rediculous price, right at $2400 total for what should be a very simple install in my garage. I am getting other EVSE quotes and looking at using a local contractor to install. I have been in communication with Ecotality, but unfortunately due to stupid politicians in Memphis my location is not in the EV project territory, only Middle and East TN I am being told. So there went the option of a free unit install. I have talked with Leviton and also EV-Charge America. What about you guys? Are you on the list for a free Blink install? I will check back from time to time and keep you guys posted.

Anyone in the nashville area got a L2 J1772 installed yet? I've been out here a few days visiting family. The hospital has a L3 going in soon, but what about any of the locals?

I live near Jackson, TN in Medina which is 125 miles west of Nashville off I-40. Will be ordering a Leaf in December. Has the AV home assessment in August, $2400. Thus been talking to several other EVSE suppliers EVCA, Leviton, and Ecotality on the Blink unit. Looking at opting out on the AV and then buying an EVSE and having a local contractor install it for much less than AV. The EVCA distributor in Lawrenceburg, TN told me no installs in Nashville as of yet by EVCA, but they did install 2 or 3 Level 3 chargers for the city of Pulaski in a charging parking lot for the city. You can view it on-line if you Google electric charging stations in TN. How about yourself? Do you have a Leaf on order and if so what's your EVSE situation in CA.

There are two l2 chargers in front of the Nissan building in Franklin. Drive down Nissan way and in the very front of the parking lot there are two spaces reserved for EVs only with chargers. You may even see a LEAF there!
