National Plug In Day 2012

Wed Aug 15, 2012 9:35 am

Austin and San Antonio will be hosting National Plug In Day events. These events are planned in coordination with Plug In America, the national Sierra Club, and the national Electric Auto Association. I am on the planing committee for San Antonio and we would like to get as many Leaf's and Volt's there as possible. It will be on Sep 23 at the Wonderlands of the Americas mall (crossroads) along Crossroads Blvd (near the Via station) probably around 12 - 5pm. We would like to get an idea of how many may show up but anybody is welcome. The cars can be parked for display or possibly to take people for a ride to show them how nice electric cars are. Please put this on your calendar and spread the word, and reply to me if you can definitely be there - gary a t zwheelz d o t com. BTW - thanks for driving electric!

Does anyone have any information on National Plug In Day events in other cities?

I'm interested in attending one of these events, but I'm afraid my Leaf won't make it from Illinois to San Antonio in a weekend. Since it's only about a month away, I'd like to start planning routes.

You can check out the planned event sites at PlugInAmerica:

Out here on the East coast, the Electric Vehicle Association of Washington DC will be in front of the Capitol building on the National Mall, with several makes and types of vehicles. Check it out on http://evadc.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Unfortunately, not too many political people around, being on a Sunday. Three cheers, though, for Rep. Janice Hahn of California, who drives a Leaf and is a big ev supporter. I saw her at a charger dedication in DC. EV's need more Congress people like her.

She's at 2:39 here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HE70wiHjn8M" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

There are also PID events nearby in Manassas Virginia, (http://events.pluginday.org/p/salsa/eve ... _KEY=68074" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) and Baltimore (http://events.pluginday.org/p/salsa/eve ... _KEY=68049" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) and (http://events.pluginday.org/p/salsa/eve ... _KEY=68025" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)
